And the Tradition continues...
Amongst my hectic schedule of modeling, pageant recruitment, being a brand strategist, and attempting to have a social life I decided to compete in a pageant, and not just any pageant, Miss Georgia USA. It was a great experience, and I received much more than I thought I would. Yes there were ladies, gowns, and a crown to be won, but I learned so much along the way. The weekend started long before competition. We all were able to learn from great people like Mr. Don Baker, Thomas Barnett, and Randall Smith at a workshop a month prior to competition. We were taught how to put our best foot forward and make our pageant weekend more memorable.
So the weekend was finally upon me. I said a prayer and entered into the hotel with a smile on my face not really knowing what to expect. I was honored to sow into other women’s lives by providing pampers and wipes to the Tranquility House.
We had an amazing Mayoral welcome dinner where the beautiful Ms. Dale Smith Thomas spoke. I cannot express verbally how amazing and anointed this woman is. I will forever remember to be a “H.O.P.E. dealer in high heels.” Also, that it is okay to be disappointed, but never defeated, and to never be stressed, but remember I am just in high demand.
Each rehearsal I was able to share laughs, and learn more about my fellow contestants. There were so many inspirational stories, beautiful smiles, and kind spirits. Amongst the craziness of pageants I totally sensed the spirit of God. That is all thanks to the beautiful, and humble Executive Director, Ms. Kim Greenwood, another amazing woman of God. She was not only preparing every woman to be a great Miss Georgia USA, but a great woman once the crown and sash were passed down. She welcomed us all into the beautiful Georgia tradition. And, for that, I will be forever grateful.
