To My True Love

As I sit here taking a little break, I overheard Oprah say during her interview with Rihanna “We all want love.” How true do you think this?

As Valentine’s Day approaches a lot of us think about the love we have and the love that we don’t. I think people spend a lot of time counting the things that they don’t have and very little time counting the blessings that they do have. Life always has its ups and downs, but some things remain constant. It is so important that you have a strong support system, inner circle that not only keeps you grounded, but also provides the love and security that you need. Who are those people to you? What does love mean to you?

Love to me is always unconditional, actions are what are conditional. Sometimes people choose to express their love, other times they keep it to themselves. Yes, I date, and no I probably won’t be spending Valentine’s Day with anyone special, but that’s a personal choice. But who are my blessings that I count daily? My family. We fuss, we fight, but above everything else I know that when I need to feel loved, they do just that. They don’t all love the same, they don’t all understand me the same way, but they all provide something different. And for that I thank them.

So, to the true loves of my life…Happy Valentine’s Day.
