Are You Ready?

As you get older people stop asking you “What are you going to do after college?” and start asking you, “When are you getting married?” Recently I read an article where Tamera Mowry-Housely spoke about her time with her husband before they became husband and wife. Tamera spoke about her and her husband waiting until their wedding night to “know” one another. I think this is such a great decision. I, myself had chosen to do the same thing.

There is so much to consider before you actually decide to say, ‘I Do.’ Are you ready? Like most young women I have been dreaming about my wedding since I was dressing Barbie in her wedding dress. And, now with the invention of Pinterest I can put together a complete wedding board in less than an hour. But does this mean that I am ready for marriage? I have always been creative, I had an eye for certain things, but there is more to that when you say ‘Yes’ to a proposal.

So what do you need to make sure you are ready for that next step? The steps are the same regardless of being single or in a relationship. You need to make sure that you are bringing the best possible you into a relationship, especially one that will be forever.

• Can you cook?

• Can you do laundry?

• Have you figured out what marriage means to you?

• Are you honest about your finances?

• Have you learned from your last relationship?

• Have you learned life lessons from watching your parents?

• Do you have a greatest accomplishment?

• Can you communicate effectively?

• Are you honest?

These are some of the most important questions you should be able to answer yes to. After that it should fall into place.
