Girl Around Town...Mandisa Peters

Happy New Year and here is a look at our first Girl Around Town for 2018.

Hello, my name is Mandisa Vonette Peters. My current venture is the art of makeup. Specifically teaching women how to enhance their natural beauty whether it be by them booking a special events appointment, a wedding day glam or via a private one on one session with me.

I got started right after I graduated Hunter College. I was one step out of school, trying to figure out my next career path when someone told me MAC was hiring and I decided to take the leap of faith and got a job doing makeup, which before then I had no retail experience and I was only familiar with makeup as a hobby.

My main Motto will always be, remember trends come and go but timeless beauty will forever remain. After all we hate looking back at pictures and thinking "why did I do that?"

My goal one day is to work on Broadway, fusing my passion for dance, theater and makeup.

I use to like makeup but I grew to love it. Never did I ever think I could make a career out of it but I'm a testament that it can happen. Working for myself has pushed me to further my makeup education so I can better my craft. I saw a change in my artistry almost immediately and I can truly say I LOVE the artist I've become.

Fun Fact: Sometimes, I have the luxury of doing in house appointments where my son is always present and sometimes I have to be super woman and finish makeup applications while holding him up on one foot while simultaneously breastfeeding him.
