Welcome to Weeksville

Weeksville is one of America's first free black communities during the 19th century. It's interesting that I never knew it existed, growing up not even a mile away. I first heard about it at a DAR meeting about 10 years . Going to predominantly white schools, I was not taught about the historical black moments that happened in NYC.
